Takoma Books provides a wide selection of used books in all subjects at reasonable prices. Currently we have over 15,000 books in stock. More than 10,000 of our used books are priced at $6 or less, many in like-new condition. We also rent VHS and DVD movies ($2 for 3 nights) and audio-books ($5 for 2 weeks).

Takoma Books (formerly The Takoma Book Exchange) has been in business since the spring of 1999 when Mark Elliott began selling used books on “The Deck” during Takoma Park's Sunday Morning Farmer's Market.

In October, 1999 the store moved into its current location, the former home of the Takoma Park Metaphysical Chapel, where we have been selling used books and compact discs as well as renting videos and dvds.

Most of our used books and all of our cd's and movies are listed in our computer database by title and author/artist, so if you're looking for something in particular please call us at (301) 891-4656 or e-mail us and we'll be able to let you know if we have it. If we do we'll be happy to set it aside for you.
